“Pharmex 2026” Should Be an Exhibition After “Learning from War”
According to the Pharmex Secretariat, Dr. Hassan Bayrami, a member of the Board of Directors of the Syndicate of Pharmaceutical, Chemical, and Pharmaceutical Packaging Manufacturers, referring to the experience of Iran’s pharmaceutical industry during the recent crisis, emphasized that Pharmex this year should not simply be an exhibition held after the war; it should be an exhibition held after “learning from the war.”
He explained:
“This distinction is extremely important.
Iran’s pharmaceutical industry demonstrated during the recent crisis that it has significant capacity to maintain production. At the same time, the crisis exposed its structural vulnerabilities, including liquidity constraints, foreign exchange challenges, pricing policies, dependence on certain parts of the supply chain, and difficulties associated with long-term investment.
Therefore, the opportunity presented by Pharmex goes beyond showcasing the capabilities of the industry.
The greater opportunity is for Pharmex to evolve from a commercial exhibition into a temporary platform for national dialogue on the future of the pharmaceutical industry.
And if I were to formulate it in one sentence for industry executives, policymakers, and organizers:
‘Pharmex 2026 must move beyond showcasing the strength of Iran’s pharmaceutical industry and become a platform that demonstrates its capacity for reconstruction, resilience, innovation, and integration into the regional pharmaceutical value chain.’”
Dr. Bayrami further proposed that this approach could be pursued through a policy document titled “Pharmex 2026: A Roadmap for the Resilience and Reconstruction of Iran’s Pharmaceutical Industry.”
The document could include an Executive Summary, SWOT Analysis, 10 Immediate Actions, 10 Medium-Term Actions, and a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), making it possible to measure the success and tangible outcomes of Pharmex even after the exhibition concludes.
